AtaKaptan retires from competitive VALORANT after four-year FUT Esports run

AtaKaptan announced his retirement from competitive play on X, bringing an end to a career that began in 2021 and was largely defined by his time with FUT Esports.

In his farewell message, AtaKaptan thanked the people he played and worked with throughout his career before confirming his decision to step away from esports.

The Turkish player first entered VALORANT competitively with Thunderbolts Gaming before joining FUT Esports. He remained with the organization through its rise into the VCT EMEA era, becoming one of the longest-serving members of the team's competitive core.

A key part of FUT's rise

AtaKaptan's strongest years came in 2023 and 2024, when FUT established itself as one of EMEA's most consistent international representatives.

FUT finished third in the VCT 2023 EMEA League, earning qualification for Masters Tokyo. Later that year, the team reached the playoffs at Champions Los Angeles, finishing 7th-8th, before winning Convergence 2023.

The following season produced the deepest international run of AtaKaptan's career.

FUT again finished third in VCT EMEA Stage 1, qualifying for Masters Shanghai. The team advanced through the Swiss Stage and defeated FNATIC 2-1 in the playoffs before falling to Team Heretics, finishing 5th-6th overall.

His performance during FUT's Shanghai campaign also showed why he remained valuable to the roster. Against FNATIC in the lower bracket, AtaKaptan posted 11 kills, eight deaths and eight assists with 183 ACS on Ascent, helping FUT close the series 2-1.

Across the supplied career statistics, AtaKaptan recorded a 1.01 rating, 191.4 ACS, 0.96 K/D and 72% KAST, with 1,951 kills, 2,034 deaths and 1,234 assists.

His agent pool reflected his role as a controller, with Omen accounting for 34% of his usage, Viper 33% and Brimstone 20% in the supplied data.

The end of the FUT era

FUT eventually moved AtaKaptan out of its starting lineup during the 2025 season, ending his long tenure with the organization.

By then, he had represented FUT at multiple international events, including Masters Tokyo, Champions 2023, Masters Shanghai and Champions 2024. His competitive career also produced more than $51,000 in recorded tournament prize money, with FUT accounting for the overwhelming majority of his earnings.

AtaKaptan leaves behind more than individual statistics. He was part of the FUT core that helped establish Turkish VALORANT as a consistent presence on the international stage.

After years of VCT competition, international LANs and representing Turkey at the game's biggest events, the 25-year-old has now closed that chapter.
